Lot Title:
1849 Moffat (Kagin-4a, R.4). NGC AU-50.
Description:
The level of detail for a Moffat five will never approach the familiar sharpness of a Federal issue, but the reverse of this particular example certainly exhibits the kind of luster that one expects from a lightly circulated example. For that matter, the matte texture that one would find on an uncirculated piece remains mostly present on the obverse, with just minor flatness seen on the high relief areas. Only vague, dull old scratches may be seen, mostly on the obverse. (PCGS# 010240)
