Lot Title:
1805 Large 5 - Stems (C-4, R.2). PCGS XF-45.
Description:
The large "5" touches the drapery, with stems on the reverse, and for die-state II, the chip in the left field clearly visible. Superior quality for a commercial XF-45 grade, with a fine, clean dark-walnut appearance and faded red luster peeping over peripheral lettering on the reverse. Clearly an original coin, crumbles of dark grunge are worked into the devices on both sides, but especially so on the reverse. All abrasions seen are minor and not worth mentioning individually.

1805 (C-4) Large Italic 5, Stems. PCGS AU-55 (green label).
Although cleaned long ago and recolored, the overall chocolate-bronze eye-appeal is definitely nicer than one might expect, given the remnants of luster that stubbornly remain on both sides. Flowline... |
