Lot Title:
1863 J-312. PCGS PF-65 Brown.
Description:
This specimen is encapsulated in an older style holder. The PCGS Population listing shows 10 pieces having this designation, with only 2 finer at this ascription level, both being PF-66BN. This copper or bronze, Plain Edge issue is described as Judd-312, Pollock-377, Rarity-4. The obverse displays a very wide, ornate shield, and within the scroll the motto is struck "GOD OUR TRUST." The wreath configuration on the reverse differs somewhat from the adopted design, foremost by the curvature of the denomination. Its reflective surfaces are enhanced by an opulent reddish brown aspect augmented by blue nuances.
