(About The Images)
1805 S-269 VF. 1805 S-269 VF.
Lot Title: 1805 S-269 VF.
Description: Only three die-marriages exist for 1805-dated cents, and the S-269 is the only variety with a pointed "1" in the date. Unusually pleasing color is accentuated by bold details near the XF level, and an absence of rim problems confirms a high level of preservation for this desirable copper. There are some scattered contact marks, including one in the left obverse field, and another about the middle of the neck, but the supply of early cents in this condition is meager, and ownership of this one will be fiercely contested.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1805 (S-269, R.1) PCGS MS-62.
This coin is way up there on the condition census, with only 16 examples of the date earning an uncirculated Sheldon designation by PCGS. What's more, this is the only Sheldon variety for the 1805...
502The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$700.00
1805 Pointed "1" (S-269, R-1). XF.
S-269 is a common variety, and this example has outstanding sharpness, with details of XF-45 and surfaces that are amazingly free of any discernible contact marks, with the exception of a cluster of...
428The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$280.00
1805 (S-269) Draped Bust large-cent VF-20
Attractive, smooth surfaces predominate, and the strike is decent though slightly off center to 12:00. Numerous tiny nicks on the surface require mention, and there are some sharp, pointed abrasions...
224The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$360.00
1805 VF-35.
All 1805 cents are scarce to rare. Most often they are encountered in some state of distress. This is the exception. The coin is a beautiful mahogany brown. The detail is full XF and the net grade...
