(About The Images)
1805 (S-269, R.1) PCGS MS-62. 1805 (S-269, R.1) PCGS MS-62.
Lot Title: 1805 (S-269, R.1) PCGS MS-62.
Description: This coin is way up there on the condition census, with only 16 examples of the date earning an uncirculated Sheldon designation by PCGS. What's more, this is the only Sheldon variety for the 1805 year that displays a pointed upper serif on the "1" in the date. Conditionally, the striking details are superb, and the surfaces are mostly smooth. However, an area below Liberty's throat, on her breast, appears to have undergone a slight repair, with the resulting evidence being seen on the second leaf spring down on the right branch of the wreath (jw). (PCGS# 001510)

1805 Pointed "1" (S-269, R-1). XF.
S-269 is a common variety, and this example has outstanding sharpness, with details of XF-45 and surfaces that are amazingly free of any discernible contact marks, with the exception of a cluster of...

1805 (S-269) Draped Bust large-cent VF-20
Attractive, smooth surfaces predominate, and the strike is decent though slightly off center to 12:00. Numerous tiny nicks on the surface require mention, and there are some sharp, pointed abrasions...
224The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$360.00
1805 VF-35.
All 1805 cents are scarce to rare. Most often they are encountered in some state of distress. This is the exception. The coin is a beautiful mahogany brown. The detail is full XF and the net grade...
279The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$290.00
1805 S-269 VF.
Only three die-marriages exist for 1805-dated cents, and the S-269 is the only variety with a pointed "1" in the date. Unusually pleasing color is accentuated by bold details near the XF level, and...
