Lot Title:
1795 Head of 1794, 3 Leaves, B-7, BB-18, R-3. NCS VF Details Plugged, Whizzed.
Description:
This is the singular variety from this year having fourteen berries on the wreath, 7 on each branch. Also, diagnostically there is only one berry beneath the Eagle's wing on the left, and two beneath its wing on the right. Additionally, it is the solitary 1795 issue combining the head of 1794 feature with a three leaves reverse attribute. Although its surfaces have been artificially treated to conceal a repair, it nevertheless is a respectable representative. The formation of russet tones in the midst of its charcoal-gray surface aspect is rather handsome. The marks perceived are not uncommon for these ponderous silver coins. Its well-centered motifs, and the sharp design definition for its ascribed grade makes for a reputable type example.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
