1907 High Relief Wire Rim ICG, as described 1907 High Relief Wire Rim ICG, as described
Lot Title: 1907 High Relief Wire Rim ICG, as described
Description: An unexpected find in an ICG holder, the quality for this high-relief Saint pretty much will speak for itself, regardless of the brand shown on the slab. Dispensing quickly with any potential "negative" commentary, Liberty's upper kneecap and neighboring thigh each display one tiny tick, and three exceedingly narrow linear abrasions line up toward the right of the rising sun on the reverse. That's it! And none of these contact marks is actually visible without the aid of magnification, thus augmenting the notion that this truly is a high-quality specimen.

Die markers may prove of interest to the future owner, and we note an intriguing die-crack that begins at the extreme end of the eagle's tail feather and nearly hugs the rim as it snakes upward toward "RICA". On the obverse, a minute, diagonal die abrasion rests within the windows of the rotunda. Needless to say, myriad fine raised lines exemplify the characteristics of die-polish that always appears on high-relief double-eagles. A slightly pale cast exhibits over the surfaces and suggests past conservation, but we cannot detect any evidence of an abrasive process, and certainly nobody could possibly decry the highly consistent, even patina. ICG states "wire rim", though this cannot be verified due to the edge of the slab insert. (PCGS# 009135)

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
