Lot Title:
1798 Pointed 9, 4 Lines (B-27, BB-113) ANACS VF details/cleaned (year on ANACS label incorrect).
Description:
ANACS called this a 1799 dollar, proving that even the best era for their slabs could still see an occasional clerical error, but the details grade certainly seems correct. As suggested by the modest downgrade to VF-30, the attested cleaning is scarcely noticeable across the graphite-grey surface, attested to only by faint glossiness in the wide open areas of the design. A couple of ancient band stains cross over the reverse, and close examination proves that the metal has become slightly corroded in that area, though this is not otherwise noticeable. (PCGS# 040030)
