Lot Title:
1847-D NGC AU-55.
Description:
Jackson's Branch Mint Gold. Exceptionally original quality dramatizes the reverse, where substantial dark matter works its way in between the intricate recesses of the design, providing a lot of extra sharpness to the appearance on that side. Some of this ashy dirt spills over to the obverse, casting a slightly yellow-grey pallor over Liberty's portrait and the surrounding fields. A hairline-free coin with very little sign of wear. Evidence of cleaning is certainly minimal, with perhaps a slightly dull cast on each side providing the best clue to any surface issue. Admittedly, this coin is somewhat bright, but everyone knows... |
