(About The Images)
1796 Small Date, Small Letters. F details/graffiti. 1796 Small Date, Small Letters. F details/graffiti.
Lot Title: 1796 Small Date, Small Letters. F details/graffiti.
Description: The "graffiti" referenced almost defies rational description. In a smoke-induced haze, one might easily mistake the varied and mysterious glyphs as some sort of witchcraft, or nefarious incantation. The symbols may well hold a strange, unseen power over some potential bidders.... or they may simply be ignored as random scribbling. At any rate, the host small-eagle dollar is a dead-to-rights fully original coin, so at least that is a plus. This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1796 Small Date/Small Letters. ANACS AU-55.
B-5a is a cinch to attribute as soon as the die-break between "IC" on the reverse is located, and this is an only lightly-worn example, still replete with much of the original mint luster. Some...
