Lot Title:
1880 PCGS MS-63.
Description:
Arresting, gorgeous eye-appeal exceeds that of some coins graded a full point higher, although technical limitations are certainly governed by trivial thin hairlines scattered here and there in the fields. They won't even be noticed by most collectors, since the eye is immediately drawn into the rolling, vibrant yellow-gold luster, and thence across the strongly detailed design elements. Liberty's crown is sharply defined, and the wreath on the reverse is exquisitely sharp. Everything is "all there" on that side! At arm's length, there is undeniably some prooflike character visible at certain viewing angles, but only to mild extent due to the obvious cartwheel effect stroking through the fields. (PCGS# 008002)
