Lot Title:
1879 ANACS UNC details/net AU-50/cleaned.
Description:
Sharpness is really AU-58, but the cleaning is not as bad as one might guess from the brief ANACS disclaimer. While the fields display remnants of hazy hairlines, the reflectivity is partially due to a slightly mirrored striking. At any rate, 1879 is a more common date in the three-dollar gold series, making this an inexpensive entry-level type example with great detail. (PCGS# 008001)

This specimen's sparkling surfaces are highly reflective and offset the frosty design motifs. Some stray marks are randomly scattered, with a couple appearing in the field between the first "S" of... |
