(About The Images)
1879 AU-58PL. 1879 AU-58PL.
Lot Title: 1879 AU-58PL.
Description: This specimen's sparkling surfaces are highly reflective and offset the frosty design motifs. Some stray marks are randomly scattered, with a couple appearing in the field between the first "S" of "STATES" and the headdress. Its detailing is superb and further heightens the visual elegance of this low mintage date.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Sharpness is really AU-58, but the cleaning is not as bad as one might guess from the brief ANACS disclaimer. While the fields display remnants of hazy hairlines, the reflectivity is partially due to...

1879 PCGS AU-55.
Although a little less than half of the mint luster on the obverse remains, the reverse luster is hardly diminished at all, providing ample endorsement of the AU-55 grade. Very good color prevails on...
