Lot Title:
1884 PCGS AU-58.
Description:
A really nice AU-58, hardly any sharpness at all has been lost to wear, and bands of luster still manage to propagate entirely through the fields. There are some obvious prooflike characteristics, including gleaming fields and light texture on the portrait, but perhaps more important to the collector, there are very few contact marks at all on either side. Indeed, if not for two points of wear, this might well grade MS-64! (PCGS# 008006)

1884 ANACS AU-58.
Mintage: 1000. 1884 saw the continuation of low-mintage 3-dollar gold pieces, many of which were struck in prooflike format, yet this is a lustrous example with every bit of the circulation strike... |
