Lot Title:
1884 ANACS AU-58.
Description:
Mintage: 1000. 1884 saw the continuation of low-mintage 3-dollar gold pieces, many of which were struck in prooflike format, yet this is a lustrous example with every bit of the circulation strike character that many astute collectors prefer. Indeed, the flowline activity shows scarcely an effect at all from circulation, with only friction dashed about each side, along with a few trivial hairlines from normal handling. Perfect color and exceptionally well-detailed, this specimen also resides in a desirable, old small ANACS holder. Great stuff! (PCGS# 008006)

A really nice AU-58, hardly any sharpness at all has been lost to wear, and bands of luster still manage to propagate entirely through the fields. There are some obvious prooflike characteristics,... |
