Lot Title:
1911-D PCGS MS-64BN.
Description:
1911-D doesn't stand out as a key date to the small-cent series, but the details shown here are unusually sharp for an early branch-mint example, with Lincoln's beard displaying a wealth of carefully delineated details. The wheat stalks are finely detailed as well. The obverse color leans toward subtle shades of magenta, while the center of the reverse features more than a hint of vintage mint-orange tone. Without a doubt, though, the predominant overtone is that of nice, brown copper. (PCGS# 002444)

Sharpness is very pleasing for an early branch-mint wheat cent, and the reverse seems particularly well struck for 1911-D. A subtle blush of copper-rose patina may be seen aligned with the center of... |
