(About The Images)
1913-D PCGS MS-64RD. 1913-D PCGS MS-64RD.
Lot Title: 1913-D PCGS MS-64RD.
Description: The medium copper-red color is hands-down no-question original, and barely faded from the original brilliance as-minted. While the luster is just slightly muted due to the patina, this is actually a desirable quality, demonstrating the true character of a vintage copper coin that hasn't been "helped". All the surface is mostly free from abrasions, which leads to speculation as to why the grade is limited to MS-64 RD, and closer inquiry reveals that the obverse is prominently flecked with tiny carbon spots... a veritable swarm of them. They are all so tiny that, amazingly, they don't even show up at normal viewing distance, but in aggregate, they cannot be ignored when it comes to technical grade. (PCGS# 002464)
