Description:
|
The "obverse S" variety gets all the glory, but the 1917-S with mintmark on the reverse is no slouch in better uncirculated grades. Comfortable, silvery satin luster dominates this choice example, with neither side showing much tone, aside from a spray of very fine carbon speckles across the upper obverse. Liberty's thumb is not well defined, foreshadowing San Francisco's striking difficulties in later years, but sharpness is decent overall.
