Lot Title:
1917-S Reverse. PCGS MS-62.
Description:
The 1917-S is commonly found with poor strike details for both mintmarked versions, so the improvement over average offered by the present coin is worthy of appreciation. The cartwheel effect is a little subdued, as is usually found for this issue, and planchet abrasions near the central areas were not effectively effaced by the strike. Lightly patinated with vanilla-beige tone.

The "obverse S" variety gets all the glory, but the 1917-S with mintmark on the reverse is no slouch in better uncirculated grades. Comfortable, silvery satin luster dominates this choice example,... |

Mottled indigo toning adorns both the obverse and reverse of this well-struck and problem-free half dollar. Smoldering from beneath the toning are highly reflective fields. |
