(About The Images)
1907-O PCGSGenuine. 1907-O PCGSGenuine.
Lot Title: 1907-O PCGSGenuine.
Description: There is no singular factor that denotes this as a coin with altered surfaces (PCGS Genuine-94), yet someone familiar with the vast array of methods employed by coin doctors would guess that something is "not quite right" with the dull appearance of the obverse. A chemical treatment or residue of some unknown type may have been used to hide hairlines or minor surface flaws that are not immediately recognizable. This is probably a borderline AU-58/MS-62 coin without the alteration, and indeed, the reverse seems unaffected by whatever process took place on the obverse.
Low Estimate: $300.00
High Estimate: $400.00

I am glad the guy who cleaned the 1870-S $5.00 gold piece in this sale didn't get his hands on this original beauty. That guy is still on coin collecting probation, and will be for a long time if I...
