Lot Title:
1909-O PCGS MS-65.
Description:
Absolutely fantastic, shimmering crystal-bright luster cascades off the obverse of this marvelous gem, infusing Liberty's portrait with dramatic bands of gleaming radiance, while the reverse is suitably infused with vibrant cartwheel effect. The WOW effect is dramatic and unmistakable! Dressing up the edge of the reverse is a series of rainbow arcs that meander in and out of the peripheral lettering, providing even nicer effect than normally seen with more mundane bull's-eye toning, and the effect is just terrific. It's a little surprising that a New Orleans coin would be so nicely detailed, since that mint is known for weakly struck coins, and these particular dies display a lot of surface erosion, yet details are pleasingly sharp and thoroughly imparted to each side. A hands-down no-question gem!
