Description:
|
So unusual is it to see a pattern coin so perfectly circulated that it appeared almost too perfect, such that the esteemed Scotsman Auction Company adroitly decided to have certification confirm authenticity. Sure enough, this truly is a genuine Judd-1626, evenly draped in crème-beige patina and beautifully worn to the extremely-fine level. What else might one expect from such a remarkable collection? A couple of hairline scratches traverse the cheek, with another pointed at Liberty's nose, and the whole unusual texture of the surfaces must be the result of production for pattern coins, plus use as a pocket piece, perhaps by some long forgotten congressman? A fascinating coin from the Tabasco Sauce collection.
