Lot Title:
|
1895 MS-60.
|
Description:
|
Fully draped in dusky grey patina, underlying luster nonetheless remains potent, especially on the reverse, where the cartwheel effect is prominent. The rims give way to plush tone that yields flashes of album toning, with subdued pastel colors marbling the margins on the reverse. This appears to be a legitimately uncirculated coin, though subdued luster overall and some faint friction from an album slide can be seen on Liberty's neck.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Struck to an exceedingly high degree of accuracy, only a few tiny wispy linear marks on Liberty's portrait appear worthy of mention with regard to technical limitations. Although considered one of... |

1895 NGC PF-64.

The first thing that catches the eye is obvious cameo frost on the devices, even though no designation of proof contrast is indicated on the NGC insert. Next, attention is drawn to rings of strong... |

1895 PCGS AU-58.
|
An AU-58 should look like a low-end UNC within a given series, and that is the case here. Most collectors would look at this half-dollar and guess-the-grade as MS-61 or so, but PCGS correctly... |

717 | The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011 | $1,400.00 |
1895 PCGS PF-64.
|
Visual impact is a lot more dramatic than expected of PF-64, with only very sparse hairlines preventing a fully GEM grade. A "cameo" designation is sorely tempting, since the portraits are finely... |
