Lot Title:
|
1895 NGC PF-64.
|
Description:
|
The first thing that catches the eye is obvious cameo frost on the devices, even though no designation of proof contrast is indicated on the NGC insert. Next, attention is drawn to rings of strong color surrounding Liberty's portrait, emanating from bands of deep cobalt-blue, indigo and magenta-orange. Trivial hairlines join the color in places here and there, but none are obtrusive, and they are generally well suppressed by the patina. Sharpness is almost impossibly well defined, including very fine, raised die polish lines scattered all about the portrait. (PCGS# 006542)

1895 PCGS MS-65 CAC.

Struck to an exceedingly high degree of accuracy, only a few tiny wispy linear marks on Liberty's portrait appear worthy of mention with regard to technical limitations. Although considered one of... |

716 | The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011 | $450.00 |
1895 PCGS AU-58.
|
An AU-58 should look like a low-end UNC within a given series, and that is the case here. Most collectors would look at this half-dollar and guess-the-grade as MS-61 or so, but PCGS correctly... |

717 | The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011 | $1,400.00 |
1895 PCGS PF-64.
|
Visual impact is a lot more dramatic than expected of PF-64, with only very sparse hairlines preventing a fully GEM grade. A "cameo" designation is sorely tempting, since the portraits are finely... |

590 | The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010 | $475.00 |
1895 MS-60.
|
Fully draped in dusky grey patina, underlying luster nonetheless remains potent, especially on the reverse, where the cartwheel effect is prominent. The rims give way to plush tone that yields... |
