Lot Title:
1840 No Drapery. NGC MS-65.
Description:
Delicate lavender-grey patina is dabbled into the fields and drapes across Liberty's portrait, keeping in check some of the cartwheel effect, though there is certainly plenty of luster. Early seated coins are not generally acclaimed for full strikes, yet this one displays intricate details, including full delineation of every obverse star. Some indistinct bagmarks can be seen beneath DIME on the reverse.
