Lot Title:
1888 NGC PF-64 RB Cameo.
Description:
With distinguished cameo contrast providing positive contribution to the question of aesthetics, this proof Indian cent borders on being a sensational coin. In addition to technical excellence, the toning pattern is remarkably attractive, shading the left side of the obverse with a sweeping arc of violet iridescence that dissipates gradually into the wide-open mint red surface that dominates the rest of the obverse. The reverse follows a mirror-image of this same toning scheme, spreading the joy from right to left. Just a very few whispery, stubby hairlines can be seen strewn throughout the fields and have practically no negative impact on the eye-appeal, but combined with a single oblong mark on the cheek, the impetus for the PF-64 level becomes apparent.
