Lot Title:
1803 S-249 1/100 over 1/000. NGC AU-55 BN.
Description:
The die lump dangling beneath Liberty’s jaw affirms this as a “mumps” variety and simple attribution as S-249. The planchet quality is not as nice as some competing examples as there is patchy roughness along the lower half of the reverse, but the obverse is generally silky smooth, and the overall definition is exemplary, especially in the all-important central areas. EAC 40.
