1803 1/100 over 1/000/ Mumps Obverse/ Corrected Fraction (S-249, R-2). ANACS F-15.
|
Description:
|
The "corrected fraction reverse" stands as a Redbook variety, assuring S-249's popularity among date set collectors who like to add a little spice to their collections. In addition, a small die break beneath Liberty's chin leads to appellation as the "mumps" variety. From the standpoint of commercial grade, the ANACS F-15 assessment could not be more accurate, since devices show moderate wear but no damage. Aside from that, surfaces are pleasantly smooth and do not show any corrosion or spots. A liberal supply of tiny contact marks from circulation can be seen strewn across both sides, but none of them is individually offensive. They merely add up to give an overall "baggy" impression.

The die lump dangling beneath Liberty’s jaw affirms this as a “mumps” variety and simple attribution as S-249. The planchet quality is not as nice as some competing examples as there is patchy... |

Dark chocolate color and smooth even wear give this coin a pleasing look. This variety is super tuff to find and a favorite among Large Cent collectors. It is a solid Good and has no major damage. |
