Lot Title:
1901-S PCGS XF-40.
Description:
Along with the dime, and of course the quarter, the 1901-S is a key date in the series, one of the top half dozen or so. It is difficult to locate examples in better circulated grades as most end up in album collections and remain tightly held for decades. Offered here is a smooth, attractive coin with nominal wear, but a singe circulation speck on Liberty’s cheek is seen. Scattered tinges of indigo and mandarin-orange color decorate the margins.

1901-S VF details/lightly cleaned, and a 1909-O XF details/cleaned.
Cleaning is definitely not dramatic for the 1901-S, since the battleship-grey surfaces display hardly more than a few subtle, patchy hairlines. This coin has VF-35 details and a beautiful die crack... |
