(About The Images)
1873 Open 3. PCGS MS-64. 1873 Open 3. PCGS MS-64.
Lot Title: 1873 Open 3. PCGS MS-64.
Description: Rouge color blushes from the tortoise-shell luster that appears on both sides of this little coin. What appears to the unaided eye to be a large vertical scratch on the portrait is in fact a line of raised metal, as struck from scratched dies. This whimsical and unusually prominent feature only adds to the excellent technical quality alluded to by the PCGS grade.
Low Estimate: $550.00
High Estimate: $700.00
Lot Status: Bidding has been closed for this lot.

1873 Open 3. PCGS MS-63.
"Open 3" is the more common logotype for the date, and overall mintage of 123,300 makes 1873 a readily available type-3 gold dollar. A PCGS green-label holder houses this example, and that may...

1873 Open 3. NGC MS-65.
This specimen's yellow-gold aspect beams with a visual vibrancy from its satinlike surfaces. A few trivial ticks and a faint scuff or two on the reverse's fields are noted. A curious raised...
