Lot Title:
1787 Fugio Cent, States United, Cinquefoils, Newman 8-X, Rarity-1. PCGS AU-50.
Description:
A visually splendid representative from the first coinage sanctioned by the United States for commercial exchange. It was struck from a very early stage of the obverse die. Moreover, it discloses no trace of the normally encountered obverse break. However, the normal reverse break is observed at the 8th link. The surfaces are remarkably smooth and glossy with a copious golden brown aspect. The reverse was struck just a tad off-center, but this had no affect on its significant boldness.
