Lot Title:
1740-BB French Colonies Half Sous Marques. Vlack 325, Breen 690. PCGS MS-61.
Description:
Although listed as a Rarity-1, Breen states this Strasbourg Mint example as very scarce. The Half Sous Marques is a diminutive billion coin issue that found commercial in both Canada and the French Colonies of North America. This denomination is very elusive and is normally encountered in conditions of extreme use. Its satinlike surfaces are embellished with an enhancing lilac blush. Although it is not perfectly centered on the flan, all inscriptions are present on this example having very distinct central design motifs.
