Lot Title:
1801 JR-1, R-4. PCGS XF-40.
Description:
Only two varieties exist for this very desirable date issue, JR-1 and JR-2, with this being the more readily available one. However, with only 34,640 recorded as being minted, even this variety is extremely elusive. It is diagnostic by the short prong seen midway along the upper right portion of the shield. An enhancing rose hue is evenly strewn on its surfaces with periwinkle blue hugging its peripheries. There's indication of die rust on both sides. A couple toned over scratches are perceived in the field across from Liberty's profile. Though some detailing in the central areas is shallow, its overall definition is admirable. PCGS population: 4, 15 higher, finest MS-61.
