Lot Title:
1863 PCGS PF-63.
Description:
It is fun to hear and see the reaction of coin lovers when they are handed a particularly attractive coin. You might get a "wow" or an "ahh." When this coin was handed to our consignment director, it received a whistle. Why? Well, probably because it is wonderfully attractive, but also because of the nice cameo presence, particularly on the reverse, and because it appears to be very conservatively graded. It is housed in one of those older PCGS holders that has the protective brace around it, and it is common for coins graded during this period to be strictly graded. The detail is superb, and the reflectivity of the fields is brilliant.
