Lot Title:
1816, N-9, R-3 VF-35 and 1817, N-3, R-2 XF-40+.
Description:
The 1816 N-9 has the widest date for this year, and it is usually found in low grades. It is the scarcest variety for this year after N-1 and N-3. It exhibits orange-brown surfaces with blue nuances. A dull scratch is perceived on Liberty's profile, while a shallow hairline is noticed on the reverse that extends upward from the "C" in "CENT" to the rim opposite the last "S" of "STATES." The 1817 is a glossy medium brown example with no conspicuous marks.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
