Lot Title:
Four Large Cents.
Description:
This captivating quartet is comprised of one Coronet and three Braided Hair examples. The itemized dates with their matching assessed grades are: 1838 XF-45, 1840 AU-50+, 1846 Medium Date AU-50+, and 1851 MS-60+ BN. The 1838 has a delicate woodgrained aspect on its dark tan surfaces. The 1840 is glossy orange embellished with sea green iridescent hues. The 1846 shows a brown-black from its glossy surfaces. The exquisite orange-brown bloom is accentuated by bluish highlights on the boldly struck 1851 issue.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
