Lot Title:
Collection of Buffalo nickels, all except 1916/16 and 1918/7, in a Dansco 7112 album.
Description:
Collector appeal: "B+" for the average grade range estimate of Fine and up. Far and away this set gives the impression of all-original coins, since really, none at all offers an obvious signs of cleaning. If not for a couple of darker coins and a couple of keys falling only into the bottom end of the grade estimate, this would be a stellar collection. These are minor shortcomings that the next owner can address with fair patience. Highlights include: 1913-D type-2 (Fine+, maybe very slightly cleaned), 1913-S type-2 (Fine+), 1914-D (Fine+, also perhaps very slightly cleaned), 1915-S (Fine), 1917-S (Fine), 1918-D (Fine+), 1921-S (VG), 1924-S (VG+), 1926-S (VG), and 1937-D three-legged buffalo (Fine).
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
