Lot Title:
Complete collection of Buffalo nickels (no 1918/7-D) in a Dansco 7112 album.
Description:
Campania Estate. Collector appeal: "B" for the average grade range estimate of VG on up. Pleasing in general, the only obvious "problem coin" is 1916-D, as it has dark corrosion overall. In addition to an excellent three-legged buffalo example (F-12 and lovely dove-grey), the best coins should be 1913-D type-2 (VF-35), 1913-S type-2 (G), 1914-D (G), 1915-D (VF), 1915-S (VG), 1921-S (VG), and 1926-S (VG-10+). The consignor obviously took pains to avoid low-grade coins, but also bypassed high-grade examples that would unattractively stick out, thus grades range from just Good to VF+, creating a highly appealing, mostly consistent overall "look".
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
