(About The Images)
1908-S NGC UNC details/altered color. 1908-S NGC UNC details/altered color.
Lot Title: 1908-S NGC UNC details/altered color.
Description: NGC proclaims "altered color" which may be because the surfaces do appear to project somewhat unusual blonde-gold patina, but by no means could this be called an "ugly" cent. Sizzling luster churns up rather nice appeal despite the disclaimer. A sure-fire crackout for someone's album collection! (PCGS# 002232)
Low Estimate: $200.00
High Estimate: $400.00

334The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$340.00
1908-S and 1909-S, both with VG details.
New World Estate. Both coins have details at or near the VG level. However, the 1908-S shows a drastic cleaning that has turned it bright orange. 1909-S has also been cleaned, but only very...
480The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$425.00
1908-S VG, and a 1909-S F.
LIBERTY does not show for 1908-S, yet the Fine details everywhere else suggest a "silent net" VG grade. 1909-S does show all letters for LIBERTY on the headband, though the bottom of each letter can...
230The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$625.00
1908-S PCGS XF-40, and a 1909-S ANACS VF-25.
A fifteen point difference in grade does not necessarily mismatch these San Francisco Indians, since both offer a strong LIBERTY on the headband, and comparable definition in the feathers. 1908-S...
252The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$525.00
1908-S F and 1909-S F.
If you're going to San Francisco... be sure to wear some flowers in your hair. But for those who come to need Indian head cents struck at that mint, then perhaps this lot will suffice. 1908-S grades...
205The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$180.00
1908-S PCGS AU-50.
Deep sienna-brown with a sprinkle of charcoal carbon staining on the reverse. The diamonds remain nearly complete despite light wear.
476The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$600.00
1908-S and 1909-S.
Both of the mint marked Indian cents are included in this lot. The 1908-S grades F-12 with sporadic light surface corrosion, and the 1909-S grades VF-20 with excellent copper-tan color. Two coin...
233The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$980.00
1908-S PCGS MS-64 RD.
San Francisco Indian cents often seem to show weakness at the top of the first four feathers, as is the case here, but the diamonds are all present and accounted for. Brilliant mint red color has...
234The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$2,600.00
1908-S NGC MS-65 RD.
Flickering flames of red mint luster glow from both sides of this key Indian head cent, and an excellent strike provides four full diamonds. Free of carbon spots and discoloration, this coin is housed...
332The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$350.00
Three 1908-S Indian Head Bronze Cents.
This is a handsome trio from the first branch mint to strike this denomination since its inception. It represents three grade levels: VG-8+, VF-20+, and MS-60+.
1044The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$400.00
1908-S MS-64 RB+.
This key date Indian Cent is much more Red than Brown. It is superbly struck. This is a great coin for your type set, or just to own a monster of an Indian Set.
350The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$300.00
1908-S/S ANACS MS-62 RB.
1908-S Indians are difficult to locate, in all grades. This UNC example appears more Red than Brown, especially on the reverse. S/S RPM-1.
