Lot Title:
1881 PCGS PF-63 (rattler).
Description:
Campania Estate. Each side emits considerable flash due to reflective, yet not truly mirrored fields surrounding lightly frosted motifs. Circulation strikes for 1881 frequently look more like proofs than, well, "proofs", and because the rims are not precisely squared off, this might well be a case of a more-valuable circulation strike misattributed as a proof. Very pretty aqua-marine toning surrounds much of the obverse and splashes into the lower reverse to accentuate the coin's eye-appeal. (PCGS# 005582)
