Lot Title:
1880 PCGS VG-10.
Description:
Campania Estate. Mintage: 16,000. A case could be made for the F-12 grade on the reverse, but the obverse shows a bit of merging between IGWT and the upper rim - one characteristic of the 1880 nickel's typical strike. What will matter to many bidders is the strictly vintage surface character, as well as PCGS calling this a rare circulation strike (which it is), rather than a proof. A very desirable and difficult piece. (PCGS# 003810)
