Lot Title:

Pollock-3227: (1859) Dollar Pattern Uniface Die Trial (obverse), white metal, PCGS.
Description:
Avant Garde Collection. The Pollock and Judd references both suggest three known pieces, and evidently this is the second finest, though what sort of "grading standards" can be developed from a population of three defies rationalization. At any rate, one certainly suspects the details are brought up about as well as they possibly can be, since the leaves exhibit all the delineation of the veins and edges that one might expect. A remarkable piece that shows pewter-grey patina and darker accents in the recesses. PCGS MS-61, Rarity 8.
