Judd-1360: 1874 Quarter-Dollar Proof, aluminum, PCGS.
Description:
Avant Garde Collection. Sale appearance for Judd-1360 scarcely exist, which emphasizes the extreme rarity of the piece, and the certification services between them show only three grading incidents. Excellent proof quality includes substantial cameo presence, although none is noted on the holder, no doubt because light cotton patina diminishes overall contrast. Details erupt from the fields with supreme high relief due to exceptional striking pressure. At the time these aluminum pieces were being struck, the lightweight metal was valued more highly than gold. PCGS PF-66, Rarity 8. (PCGS# 061664)
