Lot Title:
1877 PCGS PF-64.
Description:
Coloration on the reverse follows the classic album bull's-eye progression, beginning with blazing cobalt-jade at the rim and terminating at a veritable sea of magenta-cinnamon across most of surface. These same colors carry over to the obverse but wash over that side in a cascading diagonal pattern that suggests a patriotic motif. Far and away, a coin that carries more aesthetic appeal than the PF-64 grade level normally allows. (PCGS# 006438)

Artistic license in selection of palette has led to an interesting combination of pastels, with the obverse dominated by pale sunset-orange color that yields to lazy clouds of cyan in the right field.... |
