1798 Large 8, 13 Stars Heraldic Eagle. ANACS XF-45. 1798 Large 8, 13 Stars Heraldic Eagle. ANACS XF-45.
Lot Title: 1798 Large 8, 13 Stars Heraldic Eagle. ANACS XF-45.
Description: To our knowledge, this coin has never been tried for crossover, not that it necessarily needs to be since overall quality speaks for itself. A sizable amethyst-blue copper spot right of the portrait cannot be missed, yet this is a natural aspect of early gold production and should not play into grade considerations. Each side features smooth, even dandelion-gold patina that witnesses the presence of a few stubborn crumbs of ancient dirt, such as that seen adhering to the first few letters in AMERICA on the reverse. There are no singularly important abrasions to be concerned, though a delicate old pinscratch intermittently passes down Liberty's portrait, and the reverse shows several light but lengthy adjustment marks in the shield area.
