Lot Title:
1878 PCGS PF-63 (rattler).
Description:
Opulent, deep emerald-green patina dominates the eye-appeal, draping heavily over the obverse above Liberty's portrait, and cedes gently to lush lavender-grey toward the central areas. A similar situation on the reverse calls for even more extensive green color tinting the entire periphery, and when observed under ideal lighting angles, electric magenta detonates the fields immediately surrounding the primary devices. PR-63 only tells the tale of technical quality, since the eye-appeal is much, much better than that implies for this proof quarter. A short curving scratch suspended in the obverse right field... |
