Lot Title:

C Bechtler Gold $1 (Kagin-4), N Reversed. PCGS AU-55.
Description:
Eunice Peters Estate. Not generally rare as a variety, the "reversed N" gains its notoriety from the comically inverted capital letter front and center of the denomination side, apparently repunched over an errant "A" or similar initial punching. Pronounced golden-grey patina drapes over this example with a vision of original surface quality, relieved in protected areas by semi-reflective accents. A flat-out good looking example! (1837-42) BECHTLER (Kagin-4). ANACS XF-40 details/bent.
Fascinating in the way the "N" is reversed for the denomination, and also notable for the use of inverted "V"s for "A"s. Bent per the ANACS disclaimer, but very scarce. |
