Lot Title:
1652 6-Pence Pine Tree, 33.5 grams. PCGS VF-25.
Description:
Eunice Peters Estate. Noe-33, with pellets at the trunk and an internal die-break evident extending upward from "V" in the denomination. As is usually seen for the sixpence, clipping favors the centering of the date side, which allows the outer legend to show very plainly, while the pine tree side is off-center to the north. Exquisite for the PCGS VF-25 grade (though we have no idea how such crude minting technology can be graded to such clinical precision), the planchet exhibits a modestly cupped appearance as a result of coinage on a rocker press. More important to the collector, however, this pieces features immensely attractive ebony-grey patina in the fields that contrasts perfectly with ivory devices. In short, the original quality is nothing short of amazing, and for that matter, there is just not even the slightest mentionable distraction to be found anywhere. Sensational quality overall. (PCGS# 000022)
