Lot Title:
1652 3-Pence Pine Tree, 17.3 grams. PCGS VF-30.
Description:
Eunice Peters Estate. Noe-34, with pellets at the trunk. The PCGS slab insert undoubtedly obscures the true shape of the clips, but this threepence appears to possess a rather precisely clipped circular edge. Hard, glossy luster has assumed ebony-blue toning in the fields, pleasantly contested by mushroom-grey patina over the devices. The more important date-and-denomination side shows the better centering, though the flan is too small to allow full legends around the beaded border, while the tree side as always has been placed off-center north. A couple or so vague ancient scratches may be found on this same side. (PCGS# 000021)
