1911-D NGC MS-62+. 1911-D NGC MS-62+.
Lot Title: 1911-D NGC MS-62+.
Description: 80 graded MS-62, 26 higher at NGC. A stunning victory for the consignor, this key 1911-D came out of his uncertified collection and immediately registered a grade of MS-62+ at NGC, placing it directly into the upper echelon of examples for the date. None grade higher than MS-64, and this one has the coveted "plus" that only enhances its desirability. For that matter, in reviewing the coin with a loupe, one is hard pressed to discover exactly why it did not grade fully MS-63 (at least), as neither side shows any of the obstinate hairlines that sometimes affect the issue. Only very faint linear contact marks appear on Liberty's cheek, though a single moderate bagmark shows on the eagle's wing. Opulent luster signs off on what should have been strong consideration for a "choice" grade, though bidders will be able to determine for themselves just how choice the coin truly is. (PCGS# 008869)

1078The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$12,750.00
1911-D NGC MS-62.
Mintage: 30,100. 69 graded MS-62, 21 higher at NGC. Although not a key to the Saint-Gaudens series, 1911-D certainly holds key status for all the other gold series, and presuming resubmissions as...

1911-D NGC AU details/improperly cleaned.
Mike Wrinkle Collection. Excluding the impossible dates for the series, 1911-D is the premier semi-key for the Indian eagle series, with a paltry mintage of 30,100 mostly responsible for the lack of...
965The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$1,800.00
1911-D PCGS AU-53.
As one of the most difficult keys to the popular Indian eagle series, a 1911-D in any grade will command some significant attention. PCGS has assessed this lustrous example as grading AU-53, and that...
1136The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$1,700.00
1911-D NGC AU-53.
1911-D is obviously the well-known key to the quarter-eagle series, yet many collectors forget that it is also a semi-key in the Indian eagle series. Small increments in grade become important around...
1071The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$10,000.00
1911-D NGC MS-61.
As the lowest mintage regular issue from the esteemed Indian eagle series, any 1911-D is certainly worthy of note, though of course other dates suffered much higher attrition rates (namely the 1920-S...
